As an aside, I found the helix piercing more painful than the conch but both were still ok. Less than two weeks ago they were done and they're a bit tender if I prod them but otherwise fine. I went to a local piercer with lots of good reviews and it was about £25 each for the conch and the helix. Quote. Thanks.

QueenofLouisiana · 04/04/2023 16:36. Superdrug don’t use a spring loaded gun, that is true. However, they still use a plastic implement to push the earring through the leave- so still using the shape but broad earrings. A tattoo parlour/ piercing parlour use a totally different system.

highinthesky · 14/08/2018 09:08. I go to Elan Medical Skin Clinic in Rayleigh. The piercing is done using sterile 9ct gold earrings and the Clinic room is spotless. Thanks for this posting, it's good to have a local recommendation. It's reassuring to know that it's regulated, and led by an experienced nurse.

Yes def find a proper piercer as they’ll use needles. Much better than a gun. id find a tattoo place that has a good reputation for tattoos and their piercer will no doubt be good. No need to take your own earrings, they will use titanium ones.

liveforsummer · 18/07/2023 10:24. Dc had their ears pierced at Claire's a few years ago. There dad took them against my advice. Cost the best part of £100 each. The gun stuck on one of dd1 s ears and the other gun doing dd2 stuck on both ears.

Dd had internally threaded earrings done with a needle at a tattoo studio and her ears healed well with no infection. The piercer took loads of time marking the holes, talking dd through the process and carefully doing the piercing. Dd (who is the worlds worst with pain!) said it was very gentle and almost painless.

Much more hygienic and therefore safer. And places like Claire's will try to sell you crap add on items like wonder products which make ears heal faster. (What a load of sshhhh) The only thing you need to clean freshly pierced ears is salt water. Cooled fresh boiled water with a pinch of salt.

Even if they didn’t do the piercing they should be able to tell you the best way to go about healing or removing the wonky one. Definitely get any future piercings done by needle at a piercing studio. Guns are more painful, less precise, and damage the ear tissue far more than needles, and can sometimes lead to infections or embedded earrings.

mrscumberbatch · 08/07/2012 22:35. Do not go to Claires. Anywhere that uses a piercing gun. Avoid! Piercing guns are not sterile (impossible to do) and the action of punching the earring into the ear damages the surrounding tissue leaving you prone to infection. It might be slightly more intimidating but go to a piercing/tattoo parlour and get ...
